Night Blossom"Night Blossom" | 9x13" |watercolor and acrylic ink on watercolor paper
In this piece I would like to express growth. The girl in the center is in progress to becoming a woman. It is almost like saying goodbye to your past and moving on. It is still at night, you can't even see yourself well but it doesn't mean you can't bloom. I adore Art Nouveau. I was trying to design lines and shapes with this piece. I always paint faces in a realistic way and I fill in the background with a lot of flowers or geometric shapes to represent the world. I have been trying to achieve a marriage of art and design in my paintings. I am also influenced by Japanese art. At the top of this paining you might see that I added deep blue to close the scene which is a technique inspired by Ukiyo-e. |
